TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) –- Russian Ambassador to Iran Alexander Maryasov stressed the need for boosting cultural ties between the countries in the world. “Russia and Iran are presently on good cultural terms. Cultural exchanges between countries are the best means to develop world civilization.” In view of the fact that cultural ties are the basis for national development, he said, “Human beings have always been seeking to further relations and exchange thoughts, and develop culture and civilization.”

Pointing to the cultural historical background of Iran and Russia, he noted that the two states as two old neighbors have long had good cultural relations. He also mentioned that Russia is determined to boost economical and political ties with Iran, as well.

Maryasov also noted that Russian cultural delegations travel to Iran to expand cultural ties, students and professors are exchanged and Russian tourists are sent to Iran and Iranian tourists are hosted in Russia, all intent on developing ties.

”Persian Language is taught in several Russian universities and several students have studied Persian in Iranian universities,” he concluded.
